Pajaka Kshetra – Pajaka
Sri Pajaka Kshetra, sacred holy place, is a village in Udupi district.It is created by Lord Shri Parashurama. It is the place where Shri Vayudevaru took incarnation as Sri Madhvacharya, a proponent of the Dvaita philosophy.
Pajaka is the Birth place of Sri Madhvacharya. There is an impression of Sri Madhvacharya’s feet near his house. We can see a complex consisting Shri Anantapadmanabha temple, house of Shri Madhwacharyaru where Madhwacharyaru was born, brought up as “Vasudeva” and he spent his childhood and a temple of Madhwacharyara, where Shri Madhwacharyara Padagalu and Madhwacharyara idol which is installed by Shri Vadirajaru are found.
Pajaka kshetra is favorite place of Shri Parashurama. So, he created 4 ponds namely Gadathirtha,Parashuthitha,Banathirtha ,Dhanushthirtha and installed Goddess Durga at the top of the hill. Pajaka word meaning itself shows that it is very much liked by Lord Parashurama.
