Kudlu Theertha Falls – Hebri

Waterfalls have their own charm. Their wondrous fall from a great height is breathstopping. Kudlu Theertha Falls located at a distance of 42 kms from Udupi is richly famous for its stupendous natural settings. Set amid the green forest of the Western Ghats, this place hold treasures for those seeking sightseeing pleasures. This fall is considered to be the first waterfall of the river Sita.

The water falls from a medium height of 126 feet directly in the pond formed below. This pond is considered holy as it is believed that many sages and wise men performed penance at this place. There is another fall above Kudlu Theertha falls, called Manga Theertha. “Manga” means Monkey in Kannada and the path to reach this falls is a steep one. Hence the name, stating only monkeys can reach this falls!

Kudlu Theertha falls is located off Udupi-Agumbe highway. One has to take a left turn about 6 kms before Hebri and another left after 3-4 kms. This road takes you to the banks of the River Sita, where there is a Burma bridge to traverse the river. About 8-9 kms of trek inside the jungle will take you to the gorgeous Kudlu Theertha Falls.
